SALESIAN COOPERATORS HAVE THEIR OUT-REACH VISIT TO ANMOL

WADALA (W)-MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 23, 2013: On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, fifteen Salesian Co-operators of the Wadala (W) unit proceeded to <![if !vml]>
<![endif]>Anmol, the 'Children at Risk Project' of the Salesian Sisters, at Koperkhairne. We boarded the train at 9.30 am changed over at Vashi for the Thane local and reached Koperkhairne station at 11 am. Sr. Moksha with one of the girls received us warmly at the station. Great was our surprise when we were cheerfully welcome by thirty children both boys and girls of Anmol together with <![if !vml]>
<![endif]>Sr. Moksha, Sr. Mary Cherian and Sr. Phoolmani.
<![endif]>Anmol, the 'Children at Risk Project' of the Salesian Sisters, at Koperkhairne. We boarded the train at 9.30 am changed over at Vashi for the Thane local and reached Koperkhairne station at 11 am. Sr. Moksha with one of the girls received us warmly at the station. Great was our surprise when we were cheerfully welcome by thirty children both boys and girls of Anmol together with <![if !vml]><![endif]>Sr. Moksha, Sr. Mary Cherian and Sr. Phoolmani.Lord Tennyson has rightly said that 'More things are wrought by prayer than the world dreams of' and hence the programme began with a prayer where in the little children asked the Good Lord to bless us. They then extended a warm welcome to us through a Welcome Song. The second item was a koli dance which set our feet a tapping.
Sr. Moksha briefed us of the happenings at Anmol. The children came from various backgrounds and are <![if !vml]>
<![endif]>mostly from the slum areas. The majority are Hindus and Muslims. Their ages vary from six years to fourteen years. They are trained in matters of cleanliness and are also sent to school. There have about three to four capable volunteers to help the sisters. As one big Salesian family, we prayed for one another as well as for Fr. Bonny and Fr. Cletus who celebrated their birthdays.

Cletus who celebrated their birthdays.Two games were arranged by the Co-operators and prizes were distributed. We also distributed some useful items that the Co-operators carried along.
After the games the children sang and danced and were given chocolate. The children along with the co-operators enjoyed themselves. We were then served a sumptuous meal.

<![endif]>Sr. Mary Cherian suggested that we speak and interact with a few of the parishioners from Koperkhairne to enable them to start a Salesian Co-operators unit there. It was a very interactive session and the Parishioners were quite interested.
The day ended with tea and semolina (soji) and it was a very fruitful visit to Anmol, because in our presence a new Unit of Salesian cooperators was formed at Koperkhairne.
Indeed it was a day well spent by the Co-operators.
