HOLD MY HANDS

NERUL-NAVIMUMBAI, February 15, 2013 : The annual day of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul was celebrated on February 09, 2013. This 
was no ordinary event as the school successfully staged the musical "Hold my hands" for this occasion. It was a glorious evening of beautiful performances, top-class direction, vibrant music; elaborate stage set up with excellent sound, lighting and set design.
Honourable State Excise Minister, Mr Ganesh Naik was the Chief Guest for the occasion and Mr Sagar Naik , Mayor of Navi Mumbai was the Guest of Honour. Mr Shashikant Birajdar, Ex-Deputy Mayor of Navi Mumbai and Mr Patil, Corporator of Navi Mumbai also graced the occasion.
The programme began at 6:30 pm with a welcome dance by the cute tiny tots of the pre-primary section which put the parents in the mood. An inspiring prayer dance invoked God's choicest blessings.
The School Manager, Rev. Fr. Bonnie Borges then welcomed the guests. The Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the dignitaries were introduced by the supervisor of the secondary section Mrs Daphne Fernandes. The dignitaries were felicitated according to traditional Indian custom with a shawl, shreephal and bouquet of flowers. A power point presentation highlighting the school's achievements and main events of the year was screened.
A few parents and well-wishers who were always there to help the school and hold its hand at every step were felicitated by Rev.Fr. Anthony Fonseca. The meritorious students then received their certificates from Rev. Fr. Bonnie Borges.
In his address, Mr Ganesh Naik said that he was proud to be associated with Don Bosco, Nerul and lauded the school for its commendable contribution in the field of education. He also expressed his dream about transforming Navi Mumbai into a global class city.
The stage then came alive as nine hundred and fifty students of the school mesmerized the audience with their performance of the musical "Hold my hands." The plot for the musical involved five friends who wish to contribute to society. They decide to set up a youth centre along with their kids but are unable to do so due to some legal hassles. Finally they seek help from their alma mater, Don Bosco as they believe that Don Bosco is always there to support the poor and needy. Finally they are able to set up a youth centre which trains deprived youngsters to stand on their own feet.
The actors and the dancers held the audience spell bound with their rhythmic dance sequences and superb acting skills. The pride at watching their children put in a splendid effort left the parents glowing with pride. A resounding ovation feted the performers and their teachers after the curtain call.
Father Principal praised the young actors and dancers for their stellar performances.
The vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Anthony Fonseca brought the evening's celebration to a close.
