VOTING AND CLOSING TIME AT PC2013

.DON BOSCO LONAVLA, FEBRUARY 09, 2013:  In our journey to Salesian holiness we have St. Francis de Sales and Don Bosco as our models... this was the theme for the meditation animated by Fr. Solomon Rapol on the fourth day of the Provincial Chapter. During the Eucharist, Fr. Godfrey D'Souza gave a brief account of the life of St. Josephine Bakhita, and some of his personal experiences as a missionary in Africa. He invited us to be Mystics, Prophets and Servants in our own communities.

 

The chapter meeting began at 9:00 am with Fr. Valerian invoking God's blessings upon the assembly followed by the usual preliminaries. The chapter members spent the day voting upon the documents on the key topics and amendments to the Province Directory.

 

After the lunch break, Fr. Ignas Macwan shared his vocation story and his experience with the Salesians. The assembly then voted for the delegate to the General Chapter. Fr. Godfrey D'Souza was elected as the province delegate; Fr. Ajoy Fernandes the first substitute and Fr. Godfrey D'Sa the second substitute.

 

The Provincial - Fr. Michael Fernandes conducted an evaluation of the Chapter. Many said that this chapter had been a spiritual experience for them. The assembly gave the moderator and the assistant moderator a standing ovation for their dedicated work.

 

Fr. Godfrey D'Sa, proposing the vote of thanks, declared that this chapter was different from the previous ones. The moderator, Fr. Barnabe D'Souza thanked all for their collaboration; with the permission of the provincial and the consent of the assembly, he declared the chapter closed. It was an occasion for every member to introspect how they could become mystics-prophets-servants, and inspire the confreres in their communities to do likewise.
