MEDIA-VANGELISATION: A NEW TOOL TO CONQUER HEARTS

DIVYADAAN, NASHIK DECEMBER 17, 2012: A month of relentless research and tiring work finally bore fruit in the form of a successful 
Symposium presented by the Second Year Bachelors of Philosophy at Divyadaan. The symposium was entitled ‘The Radicality of Religious Life in the context of Communication today. The need for a paradigm shift for religious to explore social communications. Present for the occasion were the staff and students of Divyadaan and the religious from the neighbouring communities.
The symposium began with a message from the Rector Major sent specially for the occasion in which he stressed on the need for Salesians to enter into the Digital world to be at the service of the young.
The three speakers had many wonderful insights to give. The first spoke of the origin of Religious Life, the need for a contemporary spirituallity, its challenges and the three vows.

The second spoke of the impact of communication and mass media - its pros and cons especially in the field of human life and religious communities. The third speaker elaborated on practical ways the religious use the social communication to be at the service of the word.
These talks were followed by a discussion open to the floor; which was a time for clarifications and new insights. At its culmination the general feeling was that of letting the media be the new voice of the evangelist and the pen of the writer to reach people and touch their lives and to take inspiration from our Pope to be at the vanguard of social communication to be like leaven in the world of today.
