VIRTUAL SALESIAN PRESENCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN INDIA

ANDHERI-MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 15, 2012: The youth of today are not seen much on the playground but they are on the virtual play grounds. So, with the signs of the times, the Salesians are now moving towards giving greater importance to the virtual Salesian presence.
This is concretely done by a website named: www.donboscoyouthindia.org inaugurated on November 05, 2012 by the Salesian General Councilor for Youth Pastoral – Fr Fabio Attard
The website makes young people aware of what the Salesian Youth Movement is and how they can avail of the virtual Salesian presence. This website is an interactive website which will have social networks like facebook, twitter and Skype for counseling young people.
It is a response of the Salesian Youth Movement in the National sphere. It took nearly three months to prepare for this website. A lot of hard work for this website is done by the Salesian youth group. This website is prepared by the Salesian youth groups. The content for this website are, home, youth groups, events, gallery, resources, ask a counselor, and 
contact us.
In the home page we see latest updates, number of youth groups, links, gallery etc. we also notice a motivational video presentation about the youth groups in the different Salesian Provinces of India.
The youth group’s page shows the clear map of the youth groups in India with the statistics.
The event page gives an idea about the upcoming events.
The gallery page contains videos and youth pictures with description in the different states of India.
In the resources page we have cloud, e-books, sessions and youth articles.
In the ask a counsellor page you can have contacts with counsellors through facebook, gmail and Skype. The addresses and contact numbers are provided for help. This website contains anything that you require to know about Salesian youth groups in India. Simple ideas are used such as graphs, statistics, maps, videos, pictures, etc.
The website is also helpful for getting information on varied topics and statistics. There the total number of youth groups with all details is found. The website is a medium for sending and receiving any news and circulars. The website has been instrumental to document the events of the year at the National level.
There is also a gallery with the happenings of the youth groups in Salesian youth India. Through the cloud any young person can avail resources that are very useful to live life the Don Bosco way and stay young. May this venture to the virtual world of young people, be an initiative to find young people use media with responsibility towards the Church and the Indian Society.
