DON BOSCO NARUKOT CELEBRATES WOMEN'S DAY

NARUKOT-GUJARAT,  MARCH 11, 2013: Don Bosco Narukot celebrated first time the International women's Day on <![if !vml]><![endif]>March 09,2013.

Around two hundred twenty five women came from near and far off villages, where Don Bosco Narukot is carrying out its social outreach programme.

Following issues were discussed viz:

To create awareness and encourage the maximum participation of women in the governance of the village.

To make women aware of various government schemes.

To make them aware of their rights and duties in the society.

On their arrival at Don Bosco Narukot they registered their names, and were served snacks followed by visiting different game stalls organized by the boarders under the guidance of Cl. Ajay. The women participated enthusiastically in the games.

<![if !vml]><![endif]>As a sign of invoking God's presence and blessing "WOMEN'S DAY" was inaugurated by Fr. Xavier S.J. and Fr. Pravin representatives of women's group by lighting the lamp.

Fr. Xavier from Rajpipla an advocate who is known as Xavierbhai spoke to the women about their rights, gender equality and duties in the society.

The next session which amused the women the most was "Bhavai group" from Balashinor.  They enacted social messages reflecting social stigmas like <![if !vml]><![endif]>injustice, criticism, gender equality etc. in a folk music and dance form.

After lunch cultural programme combined with party games were organized.

Before concluding the WOMEN'S DAY some prominent women came and expressed their feelings and experiences.

Fr. Rector spoke to the women highlighting the history of the women's day celebration which began 100 years back. He also urged them to actively participate in the local governance of their villages.

The day was a success because lot of hard work was put in by the Development, Domestic, Technical, School Staff, boarders and the salesian community.
