“BOSCO RAAS GARBA 2012” CELEBRATIONS

MATUNGA-MUMBAI, OCTOBER 27, 2012: Don Bosco Alumni Matunga Unit again organized a stupendous ‘Bosco Raas Garba 
2012' on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 7 pm till midnight. The event was to celebrate the Navratri festival. There was a huge turnout of revelers (nearly 5000). This was the sixth year in succession and the Alumni committee under Jayesh T. Chandan our President deserves credit for the success.
Our chief guest was Fr. George Menamparampil, Director South Asia Salesian Procure. Some prominent past and present Municipal Corporators were present too. Tiny tots and still active and dancing Senior citizens as usual were dressed in their traditional finery. Around one hundred children from Shelter and two ladies from Germany together with revellers from all communities also participated.
More than 40 Prizes were distributed for the best in various categories and more than eighty free gifts worth rupees one hundred and fifty each were given through the souvenir Sale. Leading corporate houses, retail chains and various private & public sector banks supported our event by sponsoring & contributing towards this joyous and pious religious Navratri celebration.
After attending the Raas Garba our Chief Guest Fr. George Menamparampil wrote to our Secretary Mr. Kailash B. Parekh, “It was very kind of you to invite me. I thought it would be a small program for Alumni with two or three hundred of them. It was great to be a part of such a large group of people, having clean, good, decent fun on an actually religious occasion. It was great of you to organize and manage such things.
Participation from all the communities of the neighbourhood and elsewhere provided a colourful dimension to the event. Inspite of all odds, our motto 'Know, Love, Help One Another and Keep United’ helped make the evening a grand success.
