SUMMER CLUB 2013, SAVEDI KICKS OFF

SAVEDI-AHMEDNAGAR, APRIL 15, 2013: The Summer Club 2013 began on April 15, 2013 at 9.00 a.m. in Don Bosco Savedi, Ahmednagar. The Organizers of this summer club Br. Bryce Fernandes, Cl. Ranson D'Souza along with two volunteers Vishal Wagmare and Pramod Tribhuvan began with seventeen boys and thirteen girls in the morning. The Inauguration ceremony began at 10.15 a.m. and Fr. Manuel Murzello, the Rector of Don Bosco bhavan, Savedi was the chief guest. Fr. James Nigrel, Fr. Augustine Pereira, Fr. Anthony Goyal, and Fr. Cedrick Sankul were present for the occasion.
Registration for the summer club began early in the morning along with a light moment of sharing of stories, jokes and riddles among the organizers and the children. At 10.15 a.m. the children got ready for the Inauguration ceremony which began with invoking the presence of God. Fr. Manuel then declared the summer club open and in his speech said, "I want each one of you to take advantage of this summer club wherein you will learn many new things. Participate in the games which includes coaching in football, basketball and volleyball, the English classes which will definitely improve your English speaking and writing skills, and the Handwriting, Elocution, Acting, Dancing, Singing, Drawing and the best of waste competitions whole heartedly and learn something new this summer."
With this the inauguration ceremony ended after which Br. Bryce and Cl. Ranson gave them some important instructions about the summer club. Then the brothers organized ice-breakers and mixers which made the children know each other better and mix around with everyone. The children enjoyed themselves and were very happy at the end of the morning session which ended at 12.00 p.m. In the afternoon the children returned at 3.00 p.m. for some indoor games in the top hall of the Marathi medium school. An English test was conducted for all the students which included reading a story and spelling words. At 5.30 p.m. all the catholic students joined in the evenings Eucharist.
Indeed the first day of the Summer Club was a success. This could clearly be seen in the joy on the faces of the children. Definitely the children are going to enjoy themselves learning something new this summer inspite of the hot summer's heat.
